The Town of Pulaski and the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley announce the kick off of the Jackson Park Summer Concert Series on June 21, 2013. This year’s concerts series features five concerts beginning June 21st and ending on August 23rd.
The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a citizen information meeting on a proposed project to replace the Interstate 81 bridges over the New River and the Route 232 bridge over I-81 on the Montgomery and Pulaski County line.The meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the City of Radford Municipal Building Council Chambers, 10 Robertson Street, in Radford.
The Annual Claytor Lake Festival is Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Claytor Lake State Park. The Festival includes Arts and Crafts, Food Vendors, Old Dominion Historical Fire Society's Antique Fire Truck(s) Drive In and display, Annual Car/Motorcycle Show, Children's Activities, Everett Lee Yearout, Jr. Adult/Youth Fishing Tournament and Essay Contest, Coast Guard Auxiliary Search and Rescue, Remote Control Airplanes performing tricks and stunts, Wine Tasting with Virginia Wineries, Live Entertainment will be Beach Music with the Part Time Part Time Band, Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre Mini Performance of Tunes from “Show Boat”, Uptown Trio, Magic Moments featuring Bobby Nash and the Southern Nights Band. The evening ends with Fireworks by Grucci as the Grand Finale! The Festival starts at 10:00 am and ends after the fireworks, and entertainment will resume after the fireworks. Come early and stay late.
The Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley and the Draper Mercantile is having the 2nd Annual “Wine a Little, Shop a Lot” at the Draper Mercantile in Draper, VA.
The Pulaski Theatre will be showing the movie "Lincoln" the 2012 Drama on Friday, April 26th at 7pm and on Saturday April 27th at 2:30pm. Admission is $5.00 adults and $3.00 for kids. Doors open 30 minutes before the movie starts. We have two pairs of tickets to give away to the first two respondents who post a comment in the comment area below telling us why they would like free tickets to see the film. The tickets will be printable and we will e-mail them to the winners.
The Pulaski County Humane Society operates a low cost spay/neuter & vaccination clinic every Thursday at their site at 80 Dublin Park Road, just past the Dublin Post Office and police station off Va. Route 100. Costs for spay/neuter, including pain meds and vaccinations, is $70 for dogs and $55 for cats.
Governor Bob McDonnell today announced Red Sun Farms, a producer of high-quality hydroponic vegetables, will invest a total of $30 million to establish its first U.S. high-technology greenhouse production operation in Pulaski County. The company will erect climate controlled greenhouses on 45 acres of land in the New River Valley Commerce Park to grow quality greenhouse grown vegetables, creating 205 new jobs within five years. Virginia successfully competed against Tennessee for the project.
