GED preparation and career education classes are in session in three Floyd County locations. Computer lab sessions are also available. GED preparation classes are held at the Floyd Learning Center (403 Locust Street) and Willis Elementary School (5075 Floyd Highway South). Career Education classes and computer labs are held at the Floyd Learning Center. Students may enter the sessions any time throughout the semester.
The GED prep classes will cover math, social studies, science and language arts (reading and writing) topics necessary to prepare students to take the official GED test.
Career education classes teach students to use a computer as a tool in discovering career information, conducting a job search and developing a resume. Additionally, the Virginia Employment Commission’s job listings, the Virginia Education Wizard and other skill matching tools will be explored.

Floyd Learning Center: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 6 to 8 p.m., through December 15.
Willis Elementary School: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 to 8 p.m., through December 15. Career Education
Floyd Learning Center: Thursdays, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., through December 15.Computer Labs
Floyd Learning Center: Mondays, 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesdays 1 to 3 p.m., through December 13.
NRCC is also an Official GED Testing Center and has multiple testing dates available in October, November and December at the campus in Dublin and the college’s site inside the New River Valley Mall in Christiansburg.
