    Fall is a critical time for collecting soil samples of your pastures & hayfields. Sampling now gives you time to determine your pH adjustment needs (mostly lime) before applying such products becomes problematic due to weather, and so these products have time to work before spring fertilization. Remember that soil testing of any land in agriculture production (hayfield, pasture or commercial crop production) is free.

    RICHMOND—Virginia’s agriculture and forestry sectors continue to be the cornerstone of the state’s economy, according to a new economic impact study released Sept. 24 by Gov. Tim Kaine and Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry Robert Bloxom.
