    Annette Lisitzky Brown, 88, of Blacksburg, Va., died peacefully at her home on Friday, July 4, 2008.

    Annette was born May 11, 1920, in New Orleans to Ephraim Lisitzky and Bertha Schefrin Lisitzky. She was a graduate of Sophie Newcomb College and a music teacher at Isidore Newman School, both in New Orleans. Annette lived in New Orleans until 2005, when she and her husband, Lee B. Brown, were flooded out by Hurricane Katrina. After the flood, they moved to Blacksburg, where they resided in the Warm Hearth Retirement Community.

    In addition to her husband, Annette is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ezra (Bud) and Jo Brown, of Blacksburg; grandsons, Benjamin L. Brown, of Alameda, Calif., and Daniel A. Brown, of Portland, Ore.; greatgranddaughter, Phoebe Rose Brown LeVine, of Portland, Ore.; sister-in-law, Catherine B. Friedler; nephew, John E. Friedler; and niece, Nancy Friedler, all of Highland Park, Ill.; cousins, Phyllis and Norman Graff, of Mountain View, Calif.; and beloved long-time friend, Ruth R. Weisler, of New Orleans.
